Australia
Australia, or the Commonwealth of Australia, as it is
officially called, is situated on the island continent. It also occupies the
Island of Tasmania and some minor islands round the coast of the continent.
It is a highly developed industrial-agrarian country.
Its area is about 8 million square kilometres. It is the only state in the
world that occupies the territory of a whole continent.
The capital of Australia is Canberra, which became the
capital only in 1927.
From 1787 to 1867 Australia was a place where
criminals were sent from Britain. That is why the official language of
Australia is English.
Almost one half of Australian territory is occupied by
deserts and semideserts. For quite a long period of time it was thought to be
useless for economic development. But it is rich in coal, iron ore, bauxites,
uranium, lead and many other mineral resources.
For almost a century the production and export of
sheep wool was the basis of the economy of the country. Now the most important
industries are oil, chemical, ore mining, radioelectronics, and food industry.
The country exports agricultural products and raw materials.
As for the nature, the commonest trees of Australia
are the eucalyptus and the Australian acacia or mimosa, the national emblem of
the country. Such unusual animals as a kangaroo or a koala-bear originate from
Australia.
Australia is one of the most unusual and exotic
countries of the world. A significant feature of modern Australian society is
the representation of a lot of cultures drawn from many lands by its people.
Historically part of the British Empire and now a
member of a Commonwealth of Nations, it is a relatively prosperous and
independent nation.

Meet
Canada! It is the second largest country in the world. It covers about 10
million square kilometers. This area is as big as the whole Europe. The
population is 27 million people. It is less than half the population of
Britain.
Most of the
Canadians have their roots in families of immigrants from European countries:
The United Kingdom and Ireland, France and Germany. Today a lot of immigrants
come from Asia. The original population were the Eskimos and the Indians. Most
of them live in the north of Canada.
In winter
Canada is very cold and has a lot of snow. Winter sports are very popular here.
For many
years Britain and France fought for Canada. It is an independent country now.
Most of the population speak English, but about 6 million Canadians speak
French.
Toronto is
the largest city in Canada. Other big cities are Montreal, Vancouver and
Calgary. The capital of Canada is Ottawa. It is not very big but comfortable.

29 березня 2016 року відбувся конкурс-змагання між учнями 8-х класів "Welcome to Great Britain!" Учні представили презентації частин Великої Британії, запропонували глядачам національні танці та пісні, журі мало змогу скуштувати традиційні англійські страви, а капітани показали свої знання щодо історії Британії, її визначних місць тощо.
Переможці номінацій:
8-В клас - "Найкращий твір мистецтва", "Найкращий капітан"
8-Б клас - "Найкращі експерти Великої Британії"
8-Г клас - "Найкраща британська страва"
8-А клас - переможці конкурсу.
Дякуємо усім учасникам за змістовний матеріал, цікаві номери та творчість під час конкурсу. Бажаємо успіхів у подальшому вивченні англійської мови!

1) Створити презентацію "My favourite magazine or newspaper" (обсяг 14-15 речень у форматі презентації або на А4).
2) р.93 підручника -виписати слова в словник та вивчити усно та до диктанту
6-А,Б,В,Д,Є класи
р.98 підручника - слова записати в словник та вивчити усно та до диктанту, Ех.1(а) р.98, 2,3,4(а) р.99-100 (підручник, письмово), повторити неправильні дієслова р.222 підручника
